Amaryllis belladonna a.k.a. Naked Ladies
These lovely wildflowers are all over Santa Cruz growing in clusters beside the road! They’re called “Naked Ladies” because they flower after their leaves have died back, leaving a naked stem. What a lovely shade of pink!
Last week I posted a photo of fall leaves in January. While the deep red leaves still hang on to their branches, yellow blossoms are appearing all over the hills (or in the trees.) It’s spring and fall at the same time, all in the month of January. That’s California, right?
